This is a beautiful venue for that something special. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the meal was just devine from the entree through to the delicious donuts for dessert. A (not so) hidden gem! This place is within walking distance from my house but because it is within a hotel I have never really thought about eating there. I finally decided to try it and the food was delicious. You also wouldn't know this was located on the highway as once you are in the restaurant you have bushland views. Everything was lovely. We asked for a window seat and we were overlooking the trees. We tried the Marlin for main course and it was so good. Yummolicious!! The staff were friendly and polite. We had our 50th wedding anniversary party here last Saturday evening in the Functions Room. The event was a spectacular success, food absolutely outstanding and plenty of it, drinks reasonably priced and Function Room hire waived as we booked out many, many hotel rooms for our guests. Never have we been to a function where Canapes were so plentiful or delicious. The mains in particular were so well prepared and melt in the mouth, that many guests are considering holding functions here. Our guests were glowing in their praise of everything. Wait staff were courteous and attentive, a dance floor, microphone and table service all arranged for us. Steve, the Conference and Events Manager, was simply magnificent and nothing was a problem to him. Whomever hired him deserves a raise. Well worth the money and if we need to hire function facilities again, it will be here. - Jim, 30/8/22

I haven't been to a restaurant for a long time, where I enjoyed the food as much as I did at Babbingtons tonight. The menu choice was amazing, and everyone enjoyed every aspect of the meals they chose. Our waiter, Tristan, was very attentive and helpful, and sitting by the window with the outlook of the trees under lights was relaxing and brought a great ambience to the evening. I had a 90th Birthday Lunch organised - we were met at the door, advised that if we needed anything just ask. The menu was excellent (A LA CARTE) the wait staff very obliging and very attentive, the meal was excellent. With several people unable to eat some things, they were all catered for. Make sure you book ahead. Even though the Babbington Restaurant is located within the Best Western Plus Apollo hotel, the food is delicious and beautifully prepared and people come from all over Newcastle to eat here, even at the quieter times! It doesn't matter what food you order, you will be delighted. We absolutely loved the confit duck, the eye fillet steak and a "side" of broccolini with almonds. We were greeted and served by Pamela who was very welcoming and just amazing! We had our ribs from the grills menu and we also had the duck and stuffed chicken breast.
